I spent the past weekend in St Louis at a Mary Engelbreit Home Companion Workshops event. And what an even it was! I'll post my weekend in several parts because I don't like writing huge blog entries and someone has misplaced my card reader, so I can't get to the few pictures I took of the thing. Oh well.
I started out last Thursday here in Salt Lake City. Woke up to a snowstorm. I'm so over winter. But that's a whole other blog post. My flight was an hour late leaving here so I was grateful for the long layover I was supposed to have in Denver. When I finally arrived in St Louis my first reaction was melting! It felt so hot! I know that it was only 80, but when the day started out in snow, that's hot!
I took a cab to the hotel. The whole thing was held at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel located in the central west end of St Louis. Such a beautiful hotel! It took my breath away! When I got to my room, it was actually a very nice suite. Walked in to my own tiny foyer. Off to the left was an office complete with desk, a couple of chairs, a phone with several lines and a place to plug my laptop in, if I actually had one of those things!
Then, as I continued into my space, there was the sitting room, complete with high def flat screen television and mini bar:
Onward into the bedroom and a bed that was comfortable and had more than enough pillows for me!
The bathroom was just bliss. Of course this may have been because there was no 4 year old lurking around, waiting to join me for everything!
After setting everything down and looking around it was time for me to head to the 11th floor for registration and a reception. I was kind of nervous being all by myself and hoped that I wouldn't have trouble finding people to hang out with.
Greeting me at the door was Mary. That is how she referred to herself and if you were not paying attention, you would totally not have known who she was. A little small talk and a picture.
Note the name tag I'm wearing. Everyone was encouraged to create a nametag and at the reception there were people flitting about, looking at them all, picking out a few favorites for prizes. Mine didn't win, but I'm sure that was an oversight!
After I had registered I wandered about for a few minutes and then gravitated over to a table with two women sitting there. Turns out they were there all by themselves, too! So I sat down and met Nancy and Michelle. A little while later, along came Sandy and joined our group of onlies.

Sandy went with me to find some dinner and we chatted more about ourselves. She's a fun person! And then I went back to my room to get all my supplies gathered in one place and find my schedule and get ready for the morning.
